Danie joined the firm in 2000 from which date it became known as Oosthuizen Marais & Pretorius. He has extensive knowledge and experience in property development, all property and commercial transactions, administrative law especially local government law as well as the drawing of wills, estate planning and the administration of deceased estates. Danie also does antenuptial and other notarial agreements and with his Diploma in Tax Law can advise clients on various tax issues.
Danie was born in Bethulie in the Free State and matriculated at the Pellissier High School in 1975. He completed his articles of clerkship with Van der Merwe & Sorour Attorneys in Bloemfontein whilst studying part-time. He obtained his B Proc-degree in 1984 at the University of the Free State and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in December 1985. Three years later in December 1988 he was admitted as a Conveyancer and as a Notary Public in January 1995. Since 1994 he has been a member of the Association of Insolvency Practitioners of South Africa. Danie also holds a Diploma in Tax Law from the former Rand Afrikaans University which he obtained in 1998.
Danie loves sport and is a very keen golfer. He was a very good tennis player having played in provincial teams from an early age. Apart from doing sport he enjoys travelling and spending time with his family. Danie has an extensive general knowledge and enjoys a good quiz.
